Contemporary, bluesy, southern soul from Jabari Clay who
released his fourth solo single (all this year) "Write It Off" yesterday (14 Dec 2021).
He is from Orlando, FL, and was part of a group named jabarisishngrits formed in
2012. He is currently lead singer on The B.B. King All-Star Band.
His debut solo outing was "Shadow" on 30 Apr 2021 which sounds pretty
good to my ears so I've also included it below. It's more of a contemporary, neo soul/R&B tune, but he has a very soulful voice. It's not a particularly short tune but seems to end all too quickly which is always a good sign of quality as it leaves you wanting more. It sort of sounds familiar and there's a riff in there that reminds me of The Dramatics "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get", so whether it's been sampled or not I don't know?
