David A. Tobin [2022] - True [SedSoul Records]

David A. Tobin and producer Rob Hardt tackle Spandau Ballet's biggest hit "True". It was Spandau Ballet's only #1 UK chart hit in April/May 1983 which spent fifteen weeks on the chart with four weeks at the top.

Not many soul artists have attempted to cover this song and I was almost put off posting it by comments made by another, who shall remain nameless to protect the guilty, but I gave it a listen and I think that it's not as bad a version as portrayed to me. It's always going to be tricky covering such an iconic song but I think David A. Tobin may have pulled it off in some eyes, but there will always be the 'haters'!

David A. Tobin [2021] - Magic In Love [Sedsoul]

Another I posted a teaser for a few days ago has been released today from David A. Tobin on Sedsoul. Tobin is from a gospel background and what a great voice he has, a real singer with none of that whiny auto-tune to be heard here!

From the short clip posted the other day I thought we were going to be in for a treat and the full version doesn't disappoint. It comes in four flavours, single, video, extended and instrumental mixes.

This will be about his fourth collaboration with Cool Million's Rob Hardt since around 2015. The track features Hardt on keyboards and UK bassist  Ernie McKone.

I fully expect this to do very well, what's not to like?
