Current Four Tops member Alexander Morris released an album "January" on 22 Jun. Izipho Soul have digitally released two tracks from it "Dial Tone", with "We Gon Get By" receiving a Nigel Lowis Re-Edit.

It was released yesterday (8 Jul 2021) and seems to be only available via BandCamp at present.

Alexander Morris [2021] - January [Angel Dove]

The most recent new member of the Four Tops, who has released two great singles recently ("Love's Knockin'" and a cover of  Ronnie McNeir's "Isn't She A Pretty Girl") released a new album "January" on Saturday (26 Jun 2021) (both singles are included).

It's a bit of a mixed bag of old and new, with "Love's Knockin'" taking some beating for the best track, but a couple of deep tracks appealed to me "Nothing You Can Do" and Heart Break Road" is real deep and gritty, gospel tinged, deep soul ballad.

The new single is the first track "We Gon Get By". One of the tracks "When You Call My Name" features The Four Tops which is not one of my favoured tracks I have to say!.

Alexander Morris [2021] - Isn't She A Pretty Girl [Izipho Soul #ZP66 / Angel Dove]

The new single from Alexander Morris, and follow up to 'Love Is Knockin', has been released digitally on BandCamp by Izipho Soul.

It is a fantastic version of Ronnie McNeir's classic Northern Soul double-sider originally released on De-To in 1966 which has this side along with 'Sitting In My Class'. A better Detroit double-sider would be hard to find, and this release on original vinyl is now well into four figures and approaching £2k .. if you were fortunate to find one!

Alexander Morris, a current member of the Four Tops, does a fine and authentic, rendition. The musicianship is second to none as they are the same musicians who currently back the Four Tops and The Temptations led by Earl Van Dyke Jr.

Ronnie McNeir is also currently a member of the Four Tops and gifted the song to Alexander to record. The other members of the current Four Tops line-up are original member Abdul 'Duke' Fakir and Lawrence Payton Jr. the son of original member Lawrence Payton. 

I contacted Patrick Biggerstaff at Izipho Soul to find out more about the two Alexander Morris releases, and he informed me that they are scheduled for release on vinyl later in the year, with a tentative date of August due to the current climate. The first release will be 'Love Is Knockin' flipped with 'Isn't She A Pretty Girl', so keep your eyes on Izipho Soul website for pre-orders as I would expect this combination of sides to sell out quickly as both are top quality sides.

Angel Dove is owned by Marlin McNichols who notified the world of the demise of Lou Wilson (Edwards) via his facebook, which I posted earlier today.

Alexander Morris [2021] - Change Comin' / Love's Knockin' [Angel Dove /Izipho Soul #ZP66]

Alexander Morris is a recent addition to the Four Tops line-up, recruited by founding member Duke Fakir two years ago. He's got a new solo single released 26 Mar 2021.

These two tracks have been released by Angel Dove in association with Izipho Soul and it would appear that (at present at least) they are only available digitally, which is surprising as normally Izipho Soul's releases are limited edition vinyl.
