The album alluded to on the Ten-63 post for the latest single from Izipho Soul. It's an album by Randy Brown called "Bridges" from around the same time which features five tracks from his 1981 Randy album plus another six previously unreleased songs.
Two killer cuts from the unreleased material include "In The Night Time" and "Bedroom Eyes". Speaking to Izipho Soul's Pat Biggerstaff recently re Ten-63 and Randy Brown he tried to licence "Bedroom Eyes" for release but unfortunately Randy does not have the rights to this music.

Izipho Soul has two tracks from this 2009 album, "Facing The Music" by Ten-63 The Browns lined up for release for the first time on vinyl. Whilst the album was released in 2009 it was recorded much earlier circa late 80s / early 90s.
Ten-63 The Browns were Randy Brown and his two brothers Bertram and William. They have a history of recording in and around Memphis as William was a member of The Mad Lads with Randy and Bertram being members of The Newcomers who morphed into Kwick in 1980. However, by this time Randy had left, leaving in 1973 and initially recording as Randy / Randolph Brown & Co. and then released five solo albums between 1978-81.

Eagle eyed (or is it rabbit eared?) Gary Van Den Bussche spotted the similarities between
these two songs on his radio show today.
David Hudson's "(Girl I'm Coming
Home To) Something Good" was a previously unreleased 80s recording issued
by Soul Junction on 7" vinyl in 2009. Gary then played Al Green's, album
only track, "Million To One" from his 2003 album "I Can't Stop" and hey
presto the backing is the same.
Just why this is being posted will become evident shortly as
Monday Michiru
released a new album on Friday. This track, of course, is a cover of
George Duke's jazz funk classic "Brazilian Love Affair" (1980) and is one of those rare covers that actually adds something, in my
view at least, to the original. I guess it's been given a bit of soulful
house vibe.
It comes in three version the original mix, sax version and acappela with
an additional track "Vulture Funk". It was also issued in May 2009 with a
set of five additional remixes, not posted as they are targeted at the
club scene.
Included is a video live version by George Duke feat. Gabriela Anders which was released on "Casino Lights '99" 2x CD in 2000.

Detroit born Ali-Ollie Woodson joined The Temptations in 1983 and left in 1996
to pursue a solo career, releasing his debut album 'Right Here All Along' on
UK Expansion label in 2001. He died in 2010 age 58 after battling leukaemia
for 18 months, tragically he had also suffered from throat cancer whilst still with The Temptations and had received surgery several times for it over the years.

released in 2009, for some reason, is not listed on Discogs. It was also
released on
'Soul Interpretations'
released in 2020. It's a timeless, smooth and soulful ballad.
I'd completely forgotten about this record until I came across it on YT. It's a bootleg mix done by a pair of Canadian 'producers' Brian Carson and Scott Arkwell in 2009 going by the name 'Wicked Lester' (which was the name of a band who KISS evolved from).
It only appears to have got released in Germany for some reason (possibly legal?). It's actually a remix/mash up of Marving Gaye & Tammi Terrell's, Ashford & Simpson written, song 'Aint No Mountain High Enough'. It got a hammering on Northern Soul dancefloors.
After listening to Leela James' latest album 'Did It For Love' released in 2017 it prompted me to visit her recording history. She has to date since 2005, released 6 albums, the biggest seller was 'My Soul' reaching #37 in US charts. All her others were outside the top 50 with one not even charting (Loving You More... In The Spirit Of Etta James) All made top 50 R&B with My Soul reaching #7. The 6 albums have spawned 20 single releases which have all failed to make a dent on even the US RB charts, except 'Tell Me You Love Me' which reached the heady heights of #72! However, 9 have entered the US Adult R&B charts, with 'Don't Want You Back' from her latest album reaching #1.
This surprised me as I thought that she was a 'more established' artist. Her latest album, I feel, is her best to date.

Album track only - A reasonable cover of Phyllis Hyman's 1979 classic, but hard act to follow to beat the original. Sounds a bit fast and sparse i.e. lacking the lush Philly orchestral backing that Hyman's original had. For a better cover version try Regina Belle's from her latest album The Day Life Begins from 2016 on Shanachie (which prompts me to put some of her material up in future) or even Lisa Stansfield's from the eponymous album from 1997
