Orange County, CA, native Adanna Duru was a contestant
on season 3 of The Voice in 2012 as a teenager (15/16). In one of the
rounds she was paired with
Michelle Brooks-Thompson
who has featured several times on these pages over the last year or
two. They sang Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" together. Adanna lost out to
Michelle. Not deterred, Adanna later featured on American Idol in 2015
where she reached the Top 10. She performed on the show with Janelle Monáe, another artist who has recently released a single in Feb "Float".
After three singles in 2022 and 2023, she has released her debut six
track EP "NAPPY HOUR" which includes all three singles. She is a self-proclaimed R&B Afrobeat Pop artist so the
material may not be The standout track, for me, is "Stay In" which features Leven Kali
who has just featured on Adi Oasis' latest single "Naked". and released a four tack EP "Let It Rain" last Nov.
