Opus Seven, not surprisingly, are a seven piece soul/funk band who
released just one album on Source in 1979 along with a handful of singles on Source and a few singles as Opus VII on Atlanta label Gram-o-phon before joining Source, based in L.A..
As an aside, an absolute killer deep soul track by Tony Troutman (known on the modern soul scene for his classic "What's The Use") called "I Truly Love You" was also released on Gram-o-phon in 1975. A finer deep soul cut would be hard to find.
The album contains a superb modern soul stepper 'I Love You" and a
nice sweet soul harmony ballad "The Way you Move Me" which was released
as a single in 1980. The last two tracks are also good. "No Need To
Cry" and "Hey Big Brother" which was the flip on "The Way You Move Me" 45.
Source released a lot of material by Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers
whose "Funk Express" album has also just been re-released so perhaps someone
(i.e. Crimson) has got hold of the Source back catalogue.
