This one has slipped through the net since 5 Mar 2021 when it was
released. I've just been alerted to it via SoulTracks and it's far
too good to ignore.
It is a collaboration between Swiss artists Chelan (Chelan Mirko Mueller)
and NNAVY (Florine Gashaza originally from Botswana). Curiously they both
state (on their Spotify profiles) as some of their influences, Tom Misch
and Jordan Rakei, neither of whom I'd previously heard of and, after
checking, they are both relatively new artists from England and New Zealand
respectively.
I notice that NNAVY has just released (23 Apr) a new single with Paul Silve ('For
The Future'), but it's a bit too acoustic and folky for my palette. She
also released an album in 2020 which, again, is mainly acoustic in the
Tracy Chapman vein.
Most of Chelan's previous material is poppy/R&B/hip-hop.
