Ken@Work [2023] - Rapturous [Springbok Records #SBK310]

No prizes for guessing what this new release "Rapturous" from Ken@Work may be based on, although it takes a while to get there! We don't know who the vocalist is, as she's not credited, but it's certainly not Anita Baker's vocals sampled. Ms Baker can sleep easy!

There are two versions included, the main mix and a Soulful House Mix. 

The original song "Caught Up In The Rapture" from "Rapture" (1986) was co-written by Garry Glenn and Dianne Quander.

Ken@Work is DJ/producer/remixer Ken Walker, originally from Edinburgh, now living in Melbourne, Australia. He's featured her a few times with various other mashups.

Sampology [2021] - Running Around (Regrowth LP) [Middle Name Records]

Sampology (Sam Poggioli) is a DJ/producer from Brisbane out the same camp as The Middle Name Band (i.e. Middle Name Records) who have featured here a couple of times with "Weekend Love Chant" and with Natalie Slade on "Love Bite". 

In 2019 he was invited by Gilles Peterson to join Worldwide FM (WWFM) where he does a monthly show.

"Running Around" is another track featured on The New Music Hour (Global Soul radio) tonight night, which is a bit out of character for FS's general style, but what a groove. I could see this being pumped out to modern soul dancefloors but for the fading/sound effects which probably wouldn't go down too well!

It's from Sampology's first full length album "Regrowth" (released 3 Sep 2021), although he's released several EPs which gets confusing on DSPs with albums being called EPs and vice versa! I'm not sure how to categorise this but I've gone with soulful house as the tempo and feel is about right.
