NxWorries feat. Snoop Dogg & October London [2024] - FromHere [Stones Throw Records]

The latest single from the forthcoming sophomore album "Why Lawd" (following "Yes Lawd" (2016)) by NxWorries is "FromHere" which features Snoop Dogg and October London.

NxWorries is duo Anderson.Paak and L.A. based producer Knxwledge (Glen Earl Boothe) originally from New Jersey.

The album drops on 14 Jun (and will be available on physical media the week before on 7 Jun). This is the fourth track pre-released following "86Sentra" (3 Apr '24), "Daydreaming" (18 May '23) "Where I Go" feat. H.E.R. (19 Oct '22).

The new single is based on a sample of T.I.M.E.'s "How Would You Like It Baby" (Jam-Rock JA / Tropical sound Tracs UK 1975). T.I.M.E. (The Incredible Musical Experience) was a Jamaican band who recorded half a dozen singles between 1975-78.

The album will feature other guest appearances from Charlie Wilson (Gap Band) and of course .Paak's latest protégé Rae Khalil as well as Thundercat, Dave Chappelle and Earl Sweatshirt.

The supporting music video depicts Anderson as a forlorn lonely figure in a club after a relationship breakup with Snoop Dogg giving is his philosophy at the end. October London supports with falsetto harmonies.

This is top notch soul music and an epic production that 'should' get plenty of airplay if there's any justice.

October London [2023] - The Rebirth Of Marvin [Death Row Records] (Full Album and Live Video)

Just in case you've just returned from Mars and missed it, today is the 1st anniversary of one of the most seminal albums of recent years, October London's "The Rebirth Of Marvin".

We were given a taste of it the prior week of its release with the single "Back To Your Place".

Actually, we were given a taste prior to that, although we weren't aware of it, as one of the killer cuts, "Mullholland Drive", was released on "Snoop Dogg Presents Death Row Summer 2022" in Jun '22. We even commented on the post that the song was 'very Marvin Gaye'sih'!

When the lead single was released on 3 Feb we commented that 'it has more than a few hints of Marvin's "Distant Lover"'.  Little did we know what was coming although we did a bit of digging when the single was released which is revealed in that post. In summary it was released on limited edition 8 track cartridge in three sets and sold via TFTs in April 2021 which are now selling for large sums. Who even has a 8 track player to play it on?

Albums as good as this don't come along very often so let's remind ourselves of this modern day masterpiece. A quick tot up on Spotify reveals that the album has received approx. 17m streams to date.

London has just commenced a 19 date U.S. tour for the album (it's a shame that there are no international dates (as yet)):

October London [2023] - Back To Your Place [Death Row Records] (Official Music Video)

Let's remind ourselves of the single pre-released to launch one of the albums of the year "The Rebirth of Marvin" which may now have been overlooked since the recent release of several other album of the year contenders, namely Joe Leavy and Output / Input and a few others..

October London has released a new music video for "Back To Your Place" on 9 Aug which has already almost 200k views. It was initially released as a single on 3 Feb a week before the release of the album on 10 Feb.

October London [2023] - Jackpot [Death Row Records] (Full EP)

The second EP since October London's seminal "The Rebirth of Marvin" album in Feb is "Jackpot". It follows the ambitiously titled "The RnB Masterclass" last month.

It was always going to be difficult to top the album and, whilst each EP has it's moments, we're sorry to say they they simply can't compare, which is something he is going to have to live down.

The EP opener "Feeling Lucky (1729)" is our pick from the four tracks and we'll leave you to  make your mind up about the remaining tracks.

October London [2023] - The RnB Masterclass [Death Row Records] (Full EP)

October London (Jared Erskine) followed his superb album "The Rebirth of Marvin"  in Feb (which is certain to feature in many listener's albums of the year) with a (disappointing from a soul perspective) five track EDM oriented EP "Technicolor" in Mar '23.

He's back with a more contemporary soulful affair in the form of another five track EP boldly titled "The RnB Masterclass".

All tracks are explicit with "Tell Me" and "A Beautiful Woman" (on which he sounds a tad like R. Kelly) being our choice cuts.
