Kenyon Dixon [2024] - The R&B You Love: Soul Of The '70s [Self Released]

The new six track EP, "The R&B You Love: Soul Of The '70s", from Kenyon Dixon regurgitates three tracks from his "The R&B You Love" album last Sep. 

The three new songs are "Too Long", "Never Gonna Give You Up" (haha no not the Rick Astley song but a sweet soul ballad) and the best of the bunch "Can I Have This Groove" another smooth soul ballad which is, for us, the only one resembling a true 70s feel alluded to in the EP's title.

One from the previous album, "Wait", is rather good and has a Silk Sonic / Anderson. Paak vibe who seem to have been instrumental in kicking off a 70s revival sound adopted by several artists in recent years.

Kenyon Dixon [2022] - Closer (Deluxe) [Self Released] (Full Album)

Today, Kenyon Dixon has released a deluxe edition of his "Closer" album from May. It has four additional tracks including an extended version of his recent single "Getting Late".  In addition it has an extended version of "Expectations (Interlude)". All the new tracks are pretty good mellow songs an I can't really choose between them. 

In this day and age I don't suppose it really matters but I would have thought it would have been better releasing the four new tracks as an EP but I guess it remarkets the album one more time, which, if I recall correctly was a soul chart topper in the UK?

"Getting Late", released yesterday, is Kenyon Dixon's first solo single since his album "Closer" in May, although he featured with Jade Novah on "Rollercoaster" in May.

The new single is a soulful R&B affair and we are told that it is the first from a forthcoming Deluxe edition of "Closer".

Jade Novah and Kenyon Dixon collaborate on a new single "Rollercoaster" released on Friday (1 Jul 2022).
