Daryl Hall [1996] - All By Myself [Untied #CD128]

As it's pretty quiet on the new release front I thought I'd feature a few forgotten, or even in some cases unknown, great tracks which I've heard recently.

The first is from Philly blue-eyed soulman Daryl Hall with a track from his 1996 album "Can't Stop Dreaming" "All By Myself" played by Gary Van Den Bussche last week which was a new one to me, or I certainly don't recall ever hearing it before, so perhaps the same with you?

By the way, if you didn't already know, Gary does a two hour daily lunchtime show on Starpoint radio between 11am-1pm where he mixes it up with brand new releases and classic soul tunes like this, along with some great under played deep soul tunes.

The cover design used for the digital release is the reissue cover by Liquid 8 which is different to the original US release on Untied.

The O'Jays [2016] - Live From Daryl's House

As it's still pretty quiet on the new release front here's some footage of The O'Jays - Live From Daryl's House Episode #78 (of 84) recorded in 2016 (website).

It features two of the founding members of the original group The Mascots from 1958, Walter Williams and Eddie Levert who were 72 and 74 respectively and Daryl Hall was also 69 when this was recorded.

They perform five of The O'Jays seven top 20 hits: 'Love Train', 'Backstabbers', 'I Love Music', 'For The Love Of Money' and 'Use Ta Be My Girl', followed by two of Hall & Oates hits 'I Want To Know You For A Long Time' and 'I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)'.
