Band Of Pockets [2024] - Is It Real Love? [Self Released] (Full EP)

A group that is quickly becoming one of our firm favourites is Band Of Pockets. They've featured here several times, most recently with their double single "Better Day" / "Feel Me" last July. Since then they released a single "Sorrow Is Temporary" in Sep.

They kick off 2024 with the release of a five track EP "Is It Real Love?" on 10 Jan. The clear standout  is "Your Love" which is quite simply outstanding with Yona Marie's vocals soaring!

The band is a collaborative collective of global musicians founded in 2020 by J.O. (Johan) Nillson (guitarist/composer) from Sweden and Yona Marie (aka Rachel Marie) from Washington D.C. The base group consists of Johan Nilsson, guitars, synths, Yona Marie, vocals, Samuel V Nilsson, bass, Jason Meekins, drums, with additional musicians added to the mix as required.

Band Of Pockets [2023] Better Day/Feel Me [Self Released]

Band Of Pockets are a collaborative collective of global musicians founded in 2020 by J.O. (Johan) Nillson (guitarist/composer) from Sweden and Yona Marie (singer/composer aka Rachel Marie) from Washington D.C. 

They released their first EP "Trust This Feeling" in Jan 2021 and have now released three EPs, a full album and around ten singles. 

We have featured their second EP "Give Me Some Attention" (Nov '21), their debut album "Moving On Again" (Feb '23) as well as the single "Thankful For What I've Found" (Feb '22) which didn't feature on either.

Their latest offering is a double single "Better Day" / "Feel Me" which is their first release since their debut album in Feb. Both feature Yona Marie on vocals with "Feel Me" edging it, of the two, for us.

They have a new album "Moving On Again" released on 2 Feb 2023 which consists of all new songs i.e. no previous singles.

I think the strongest tracks are "You're The Sweetest Thing" and "Moving On Again" but it's pretty solid throughout.

Band Of Pockets [2021] - Give Me Some Attention [Self Released] (Full EP)

Band Of Pockets are a collaborative collective of global musicians founded in 2020 by J.O. (Johan) Nillson (guitarist/composer) from Sweden and Yona Marie (singer/composer) from Washington D.C. 

They released their first EP "Trust This Feeling" in Jan 2021, Barely two weeks after their single "Wish You Could Be Someone Else" (16 Oct), they have released a four track EP "Give Me Some Attention" today (2 Nov 2021) which does not include the single.

I'm not quite sure how to categories it as each track is different from the disco / funk title track (which is the standout track), the funky "(Dance) I Wanna Do It" and then we get a ballad "We Can't Stop The Rain" followed by the more poppy "Whatever You Want". For want of giving it a category I've just called it Nu Disco based on the first two tracks.
