ASTN & Alex Vaughn [2023] - How Soon [Warner Records]

Last month (May '23) ASTN (John Austin Sanders) released his solo version of "How Soon" along with other slowed and sped up versions (what on earth is this new, presumably, 'lo-fi' trend all about?). He followed those three versions with an acoustic and stripped versions and now (on Friday 9 Jun) the sixth version, a duet with Alex Vaughn, so he is certainly getting his pound of flesh from this sing!

It takes a moment to get going but turns into a good soulful R&B tune which we feel is elevated by Ms Vaughn's vocals.

Alex Vaughn [2023] - The Hurtbook (Homegirl Pack) [LVRN/Interscope Records] (Full Album)

As reported yesterday on the post for the remix of "So Be It" feat. Summer Walker, the new, presumably Deluxe' version, of "The Hurtbook", subtitled "(Homegirl Pack)", from Alex Vaughn is out today.

It is essentially the same album with three additional tracks featuring guest artists which have all been released separately as singles on three different days this week. i.e. "IYKYK (with Muni Long)" (14 Mar), "Demon Time (with Ari Lennox) - Remix" (15 Mar) and today (16 Mar) "So Be It (with Summer Walker) - Remix".

Alex Vaughn & Summer Walker [2023] - So Be It (Remix) [LVRN/Interscope Records]

In October last year, Alex Vaughn released her second album "The Hurt Book". This Friday (17 Mar) a new version "The Hurtbook (Homegirl Pak)" will be released.

Over the last few days three of the tracks have been released as singles i.e. "IYKYK (with Muni Long)" (14 Mar), "Demon Time (with Ari Lennox) - Remix" (15 Mar) and today (16 Mar) "So Be It (with Summer Walker) - Remix".

Two of the three tracks are remixes from the original album and all include high profile guest artists, so this looks like the way the new edition is going.

Alex Vaughn [2022] - The Hurtbook [LVRN/Interscope Records] (Full Album)

The second album release from DMV's Alex Vaughn is "The Hurtbook" released today (7 Oct 2022). It follows "The Shift" from Nov 2018.

She first appeared on these pages with the single "Mirage" in Feb followed by "Talkin" last month (16 Sep), both are included on the new album. In between she released a strange EP "Voice Notes" which was either intended to be lo-fi or was a very rough demo as the production and sound quality was poor and hence it wasn't posted.

The choice cuts from the album are "Talkin", "So Be It" and "I'm Leaving" along with "Mirage" but is full of expletives and the N word so unplayable on radio!
