A batch of new vinyl and digital releases have just been announced by
Euan Fryer's excellent Athens Of The North label.
The first to feature is a repress of a popular (and pricey) modern soul
tune "You Can Win" / "Let You Go" by Bileo originally released in 1979 on M.T.U. / Watts
City records. Only one original orange label original is listed for sale
on Discogs with an eye-watering asking price of £900. So do yourself a
favour and grab one of the AOTN represses before they are gone as they
will surely fly off the shelves. Available now via Bandcamp.
The label reissued it in Sep 2014 and again in 2015 with another repress in 2016 so I
believe that this is the third repress, and the demand is obviously there
for it and AOTN states that 'it sells itself".
Bileo were formed in 1979 consisting of Bill Williams (Eijah
Williams Jr.), Bobby Love, Joe Fornis and Maceo Jackson and released only
one further single as Bill Williams & Bileo ("Robot People" / "Things Will Be Better Tomorrow") which 45Cat list as 1983.

This is a great track and was played extensively on the Northern Soul scene 1981 at venues such as Cleethorpes Winter Gardens and Rotherham Clifton Hall. I bought a copy from the DJ Arthur Fenn for the grand price of £3
