Cherisse Scott is a singer, songwriter, actress, activist and
poet from Chicago (now living in Memphis, TN) whose music transcends genres
spanning from R&B to Gospel to Opera and Jazz.
She independently released two albums "Moans" (2003) and "Soul Journey" (2008) and has shared the stage with acts such as The Roots,
Erykah Badu, Kim Burrell, India.Arie, Gordon Chambers, Mary Mary, Eric
Roberson and El Debarge.
Today (3 Jul 2022) she has released her third project "Who Am I" which consists of five tracks and a bonus live track, so I would call it
an EP rather than a full album. All the songs are self-written with
classy and sultry jazz undertones.
On "I Don't Know" I think she sounds remarkably similar in style to Michon Young.
