Jazzie Cazzie & The Eight Sounds [1970] - Young Girl / Soul City [Knap Town KT-0011]

Jazzie Cazzie & The Eight Sounds from Indianapolis ‎evolved from The Diplomatics who  recorded a much sampled 45 on Indianapolis' Lamp (Layden And (Herb) Miller Publications) label in 1968 called Hum Bug.  

The Diplomatics were a 9 piece high school band formed in 1964 whose members included Rodney Stepp and Miles 'Butch' Loyd (bass)  (who co-wrote the song), Bobby Gayhart (drums & backing vocals), Lonnie Williams (guitar), Bill Simmons (sax), Phil Brown (sax), Pheldon Majors (trombone), Gabe Gaschaw (trumpet) and Michael Scott (trumpet). 

They recorded just the one 45 for Lamp and then one on Knapp Town in 1970 as Jazzie Cazzie & The Eight Sounds, both sides written by Rodney Stepp and Lonnie Williams. Knap Town was an Indiana label which only released 3 45s all in 1970.  Stepp went on to play keyboards with The Detroit Spinners on Spinners Live in 1975 notable for playing the organ solo on Mighty Love.
