Sandra Hakky [2022] - Out Of My Head [HakkyMusic]

Another track that is featured in both breakers charts (Global Soul and UK Soul Chart) this week and released last week 22 Apr 2022.

This one, "Out Of My Head", is an album track by Sandra Hakky (from Copenhagen) from her latest album "Hakky The System", the remainder of which is predominantly pop, which  is probably why I missed it and, let's just say, won't be featuring in this week's Dirty Dozen.

Nao Yoshioka [2022] - Tokyo 2020 [Sweet Soul Records]

A single released last week (22 Apr 2022) which I missed which has been picked up on in both Global  Soul and UK Soul Chart breakers this week (how often does that ever happen?), so I had better post it. It's from NYC based, Japanese artist Nao Yoshioka with an oddly titled "Tokyo 2020" presumably referring to the postponed 2020 Olympic Games due to Covid 19. She has been active since 2011 and has four studio and one live album under her belt.

Prisma Deer [2022] - Try To Understand Original Mix [Discoholics Anonymous]

Those guys from Discoholics Anonymous who produced the "Baby Makin' Music" compilation of sample derived tunes recently are back with the first release on the label from Costa Rican producer Prisma Deer called "Try To Understand". It's due for release next Friday (6 May 2022) but you can probably grab it from Traxsource now.

It is almost certainly derivative of something that I vaguely recognise but can't place, anyone know what it might be?

Soul City Connection [2022] - Brotherly Love [Big Love Music]

For Philly and glitter ball lovers everywhere, Nigel Lowis presents Soul City Connection with five mixes of a Lowis penned and produced, song titled "Brotherly Love".

As you will know, Philadelphia is known as the city of brotherly love and this has captured that mid 70s TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia) vibe ala MFSB and later The Salsoul Orchestra from Vince Montana, Bobby Eli, Earl Young & co. Whilst The Salsoul Orchestra was NYC based it consisted of many ex members of MFSB who were disenchanted with financial arrangements with Gamble & Huff.

In demand writer/producer/mixer and all round good guy, Nigel Lowis, who has been involved with global sales of over 16 million records and has just returned from sessions in the home of southern soul, Memphis, TN, has pulled another one off here.

There is a straight radio edit and extended mix along with three Jamie 3:26 & Danou P South Street Soul Strut Versions, a radio edit, extended and dub. I'm not sure whether there is an error in uploading to DSPs as the radio edit and extended are the same lengths i.e. 7:43 and not 3:26?

Global Soul Chart 30th Apr 2022 (Week 17)

30th Apr 2022
The Global Soul chart broadcast on Sat 30th Apr as it is every Saturday between  5pm-7pm (GMT) on Global Soul Radio.

Each week around a dozen or more 'Breakers' are interspersed with chart entries. These will be posted separately.

No change at the top, Akemi Fox is there for the second consecutive week. Five of seven new entries have already been posted. The highest being, as predicted last week, Samuel Archer's new album. I say new but it was posted here on 1 Nov 2021 having been released on Bandcamp.

Making way for the seven new entries were five of the six predicted to drop out last week. One predicted drop out, Syd, is actually the highest climber this week. The other two goners were Maxine Scott and a surprise exit for Mychelle from #6.

With so many new entries it's again difficult to predict whether the new entries will hang around or drop straight out again, but I think most of them will be safe for another week especially Clowette (predicted as an entry last week) and Kayla Amor who, along with Samuel Archer, are two of the best IMO. Next week's losers I suspect will be Loie, Sha Ako, Fana Hues and Ezinne Nnorom almost certainly. I have a feeling that, now on the decline, Eric Roberson may be a casualty or will drop considerably.

A few predicted entries from last week haven't (yet) materialised i.e. CARRTOONS, Sanura & Raheem DeVaughn and Reuben James' album release may see him make an entry although, arguably, the best tracks have already been released. Another couple of tips from the new releases include Lenora and possibly Space Ghost and the new single from Raheem DeVaughn's forthcoming album, but we'll see.

Summary: 6 risers, 4 fallers, 3 non-movers and 7 new entries

New Entries: Samuel Archer, Tigga Bounce, Kosmic Kae, Kayla Amor, VIA, Desmond Parson, Clowette

Highest RisersSyd (+8), Macke Keane & ESTA Feat. Joyce Wrice (+6), NiquaB (+3)

Biggest Fallers: Loie (-10), Ezinne Nnorom (-9), Fana Hues (-5)

Losers: Mychelle, Tarrey Torae, Lindsay Lucas, Parkes Stewart, Truth Hurts, Maxine Scott, T'neeya

Michelle David & The True-Tones [2022] - Truth & Soul [Self Released] (Full Album)

A new album from Michelle David & The True-Tones who have released two albums under this moniker but a few others billed as as Michelle David & The Gospel Sessions.

Michelle David is American but now lives in Holland. She was a member on Dutch girl group 'Big, Black & Beautiful' from 2002 until forming Michelle Davis & The Gospel Sessions in 2015 who have released 4 albums to date Michelle Davis & The Gospel Sessions, Vol. 1,2,3,& 4I'm not entirely sure that the supporting group was called The Gospel Sessions or whether it was the album title ... confusing?

The latest album is "Truth & Soul" released on 29 Apr 2022 which I'm afraid to say hasn't really grabbed me, but you may think otherwise.
