Estee Pierce [2021] - Spoil You [Branamian Records]

One of the best 'pure' soul releases I've heard for a while from a new name to me Estee Pierce. He released an album in 2016 titled 'Life Stories' (posted here)

The only other release I can find from him was a Christmas single in 2019.

I can find no info for Estee Pierce apart from what I can find on his facebook page which indicates that he's probably from the Newport News / Hampton area of Virginia. New Bio posted here.

The first track to feature in a new weekly 'SoulStrutter's Selection of the Week' (9th-15th May 2021) which will feature my favourite new release of the week remaining as a featured post all week.

Ane' [2021] - If I'd Only Known [Self Released]

The mystery lady Ane', who I believe is Shirley Ann Marshall as most of her songs are written under that name, but I can find no further information about her, so if anyone knows any details then please leave a comment.

Having released an album of covers 'Where Im Coming From' on 1 Apr, she then released another album 'Learning To Love Myself Vol. 2' on 15 Apr which sounds like it was recorded earlier than 2021, possibly 90s/00s, she has now released a new single on 4 May which isn't on either album.

Its a timeless, smooth and soulful ballad that's six and a half minutes long.

Gabby Nacua & Déjà Miru [2021] - Ethereal [Vision Board Records]

Gabby Nacua is a Filipino-Australian singer from western Sydney. This is her sixth single and fourth collaboration with Déjà Miru (Declan Dia$) who I can find nothing about but would guess he's a producer. 

The title sums it up, one of those ambient, dreamy neo soul/R&B tunes.

I'm a bit late to the party with this one as it was released 15 Apr 2021.

Situation Feat. Venessa Jackson [2021] - Time [Situationism #SITU47]

Venessa Jackson is a South African singer who has built a reputation on the house/disco scene. Check her out on TraxSource.

Call it soulful Nu Disco or soulful house, who cares, this is a stormer. Right out of the Philly mould. I wish there were more like this around. This is the sort of track that would be played in modern soul rooms and then crossover to the Northern rooms. It's got a real across the board feel. Supporting Ms Jackson are Phil Campbell on keyboards and James Payne on lead guitar.

I think it was released around 2 Apr. It's not available to download as it is only issued on 7" vinyl, so I would grab one now while you can (link on image) before word gets out as this will sell out once the Northern crowd hear about it!

Way.V Collective [2021] - Til the Sun Comes Up / Drunk Thoughts [Self Released]

A new fifteen track album from Way.V Collective which looks like their first release (6 May 2021), hence I can't find any info on them. 

The only worthwhile tracks for soulies is 'Drunk Thoughts' and 'Til the Sun Comes Up', predominantly only for the Teddy P. 'Close The Door' sample. The further you get it the more rap transpires, but at least its 'sympathetic' rhythmic rap. Certainly not one for purists.

'Til the Sun Comes Up' features. E Who Sings., M6uzi, Cheeko G & Bobby B Mac.

'Drunk Thoughts' features Nahzureth & Baemacs.

'Can We Go Back' (feat. NJ, E Who Sings. & R4INY) is a sweet soul/R&B ballad which also worth a listen, most (if not all) of the other tracks are hip-hop.

Jerzey Shawn [2021] - Goodness Gracious Love [House PA Records]

I posted this way back on 2 Feb 2021, but just heard it being played tonight on Global Soul claiming it was 'brand new' .. come on guys get with the programmme, it was released 29 Jan😜! ... but it did remind me of just how good it was so thought it needed another plug.

We Want You To Dance [2021] - '96 Striptease [So Much Love To Give]

Back in Feb. I posted three tracks from the debut album '90s Ignorance' by We Want You To Dance. I thought at the time she/they were from London, but have since discovered she is Bethany who is 21 from Hertfordshire. 

She's released a new EP called '90s Stripped' (23 Apr 2021). Three of the tracks are stripped back versions of the tracks previously posted 'Do You', 'Dalston Nights' and 'Temptation' plus a new track 'Uh-huh'.

I still think this is one of the more original and adventurous albums released this year. Have a listen to the '90s Ignorance' and see what you think.
