Zaidi Kiggundu (Ziggy Funk) and Jamie McShane met at a music
festival in 2016 and began a collaboration naming themselves Zaimie.
Having pre-released two singles ("Hidden Heights" (16 Jun) and "Smash 'n' Grab" (30 Jun)) from it, their debut album "Fortuitous" is out today (14 Jul) which is a fusion of funk, jazz and soul with a contemporary touch that brings you back to the heady days of the Brit/Jazz Funk scene (late 70s / early 80s).
It's predominantly instrumental with the main vocal tracks being "Hidden Heights" and "I Feel For You" (no not the 1984 Chaka Khan hit).
Our choice cuts are the first single "Hidden Heights", "I Feel For You" and the driving last instrumental track "Wildfire" is superb but you have to let it brew for about 30 seconds before it really gets going and then it's dramatic and relentless and is probably our favourite. It's been on repeat and is 7 seconds short of 7 minutes long ... a radio edit for the next single for airplay please!
