My selection of this week's best cover versions, remixes, reissues,
previously unreleased and new songs using samples or new releases with
a retro feel (Oct 2021 Wk 40). (In no particular order apart from tempo).
A reissue/repromotion of Bill Henry Band's "What Love Can Do" from April 2021.
Covers from Robert Johnson of Berhard Igner's "Everything Must Change", The Sounds Of Oakland featuring Lenny Williams on Park Place's "Invisible Man" and also a version of Lonnie Hewitt's "Is It Me" featuring Derrick Hughes retitled "Bright Lights"
A sample of Brandy's "I Wanna Be Down" by BenzoTheSinger and a few remixes/reworkings by Dave Lee using his Prospect Park alias on Cheryl Lynn's "Shake It Up Tonight" and the Dam Swindle remix of Double Exposure's Philly dance classic "Everyman". A remix of the first single released from Leela James' "See Me" album featuring Anthony Hamilton. The first single from The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's forthcoming Motown album featuring a duet of Marvin Gaye and Beverley Knight.
Slique Jay Adams reissue from his 2009 album "Rhythm & Ghetto Soul" and finally two of the best tracks from the Sharon Jones portion of The Daptone Super Soul Review Live from 2014.
