Thee Sinseers [2024] - Sinseerly Yours [Colemine] (Full Album)

We first came across Thee Sinseers' bandleader Joey Quinones with his debut solo single "Don't Tell Me" (Apr '19) and shortly afterwards the debut single from Thee Sinseers, a double sider "It Was Only A Dreams" b/w a cover of James Brown's "I Don't Mind".

Thee Sinseers' debut album "Sinseerly Yours" is out today featuring ten tracks of which, from what we can ascertain, only two songs have been previously released as singles "What's His Name" and "Hold On" with "Can't Do This To Her" also being pre-released from the album.

We are informed that the album was recorded live in the studio (Second Hand Sounds, Rialto, CA) with Quinones on vocals and keys, supported by Adriana Flores (vocals), Christopher Manjarrez (bass), Francisco Floreson (guitar), Bryan Ponce (guitar/vocals), Luis Carpio (drums /vocals), Eric Johnson (sax) and Steve Surman and Jose Luis Jimenez (trombone).

It consists of ten original songs written by Quinones, all with that East L.A. Chicano lowrider sound with the exception of the Booker T & M.G.'s sounding instrumental "Talking Back". The standout, for us, is the beautiful harmonic sweet soul ballad "Give Up You Fool" and if you like the early/mid 60s, almost doo-wopish sound, then the album will be a treat for you.

Thanks to our friends at SoulAndJazzAndFunk for providing us with a preview of the album earlier this week.

The album is available for download, on CD and vinyl. The video below is a live NPR Tiny Desk performance of four songs, the first two included on the album.
