The first album since 1998 from Dee C. Lee, "Just Something", is
released today by Acid Jazz. It consists of nine original songs and two
covers, (Renee Geyer's "Be There In The Morning" (which we are told is
inspired by the Norman Connors 1979 version feat. Miss Adaritha) and
Weldon Irvine's "I Love You" (1976)). Four of the songs have already
released as singles, "Every Day Summer", only last Friday, "Walk Away" in Jan and a double single "Don't Forget About Love" / "Be There In The Morning" (Sep '23).
The album is a kicker right out of the blocks with the opening track "Back
In Time" co-written with the Boogie Back boy Ernie McKone and Michael
McEvoy.
Picking through the unreleased songs, "Anything", "How To Love" and
"I Love You" (along with "Back In Time") are our standouts on a first listen. Note that "For Once In My
Life" is an original song that dates from 1998 and not a cover of Stevie
Wonder's hit.
The album is available digitally, on CD and vinyl with blue and black vinyl variants available from Acid Jazz.
Acid Jazz has done a good job promoting the album over recent months with
Dee featuring in Echoes and modernist magazine Details and also features on
the covers of both of their latest issues.
Included below is an hour long recent interview with Dee.
