A new name to us, Garry Percell, provides an excellent cover of "Going In Circles". A classic song written by Anita Poree and Jerry
Peters and first recorded in 1969 by The Friends Of Distinction and
covered by some heavy hitters including Luther Vandross, Isaac Hayes, Esther Phillips and The Gap Band as well as The Natural Four and Carolyn Franklin who were the first to cover it, both in 1970. A more recent version was by Tony Walk in 2020 from his debut album "Introducing Tony Walk".
Garry Percell is a smooth jazz guitarist from Reidsville, SC, with around 50 years experience. After meeting pianist/composer Robert Irving (Miles Davis) he relocated to Chicago. The vocalist on the song is Tony Terry from Washington D.C.
Purely coincidentally, one of Percell's singles from last year, "Reaction", was co-written and produced by Adam Hawley who's album, "Unstoppable", we posted earlier.
