What's going on here? A southern soul groove coming out of the Motor City
more famed for the four on the floor Motown beat or more recently
Techno.
Detroit's Shantae Townsel exercises her vocal chords
on a song called "Stop Don't Touch Me There" produced by Felton Pilate (of Con Funk Shun fame) and
written by Jay Blakey, McKinley Jackson (who was a member of the Hot
Wax/Invictus house band The Politicians), and Melvin Steals. Steals, aka Lyric, is one half of song-writing team Mystic & Lyric
with his brother Mervin who were behind so many hit songs, especially for
The Spinners, such as "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love".
