Boston's Lydia 'The LovelySinger' Harrell consistently
performs in more than 150 shows a year not only as a solo act, but also in
collaborations with other artists such as jazz musician,
Bobby Floyd and as one-half of the duo The Lady Parts providing backing
vocals for Zap Mama, Ryan Montbleau, Albert Cummings and more.
She sang lead on a Bob Marley Tribute Album (Sony Music Latin), won
the Duke Ellington Jazz Vocal Competition (2015), performed at the
Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC (2016) and won the Mid-Atlantic
Jazz Festival Voice Competition in 2017.
All this hasn't left a lot of time for recoding her own material as
she has released sporadic material since her debut single in 2002, with
an EP in 2012 and only a few singles since 2014. Two of them were with
Reel People (I thought I recognised the name!), "Heard It All Before" in 2017 and a set of remixes in 2022. Now isn't that a coincidence
as we posted
Sunshine Anderson's original
earlier today which has been reissued on Friday.
Her latest single is a self-written song, "Don't Let It", released yesterday.
Included below is a live acoustic cover of Stevie's "Don't You Worry 'bout A Thing!
