Louie Vega is one half of the world famous Masters At Work duo along with Kenny
'Dope' Gonzales.
He has released his latest album "Expansions In The NYC" on 28 Apr 2022 which is based on his NYC parties of the same name
started in 2019. There are two editions, both with the same number of
tracks but the one posted here is the 'Extended Versions' edition, a full three hours of music.
The track that immediately piqued my interest is a new version of Patrick
Adams "Atmosphere Strut" which was a Northern Soul spin by Could One back in the day in 1976. Then
after skimming through the tracks Charles Johnson's 1980 modern soul outing
on Alston "Never Had A Love So Good" is sampled on "Another Day In My Life" (which was released and posted, as a single last July). I'm sure
there will be other well know samples used but with three hours of music to
listen to I've not delved deep.
A few other tracks that grabbed me on first sample are "It's All Good" feat. BeBe and Debbie Winans and Korea Soul, "The Star Of The Story" feat. one time Luther Vandross backing singer Lisa Fischer, "Dreamin" feat. Cindy Myzelle and "Touch The Sky" feat. Incognito's Tony Momrelle.
It is released digitally and on vinyl, however, owing to running time only
16 tracks are featured on the 4 sided vinyl edition.
