This was a real surprise. I missed it first time around when released
on 18 Mar 2022 but stumbled upon it today. It's a new version of a
Curtis Mayfield penned song "Make Me Believe In You" originally released by Patti Jo on Wand in 1973 which
was featured on Ian Levine's
Disco Demand's Solid Soul Sensations
compilation on Pye in 1975.
The new version is by Oyobi featuring Karen Lee Andrews from Australia formerly known as Ms Murphy who was a finalist in
The Voice in 2013.
Aside from Curtis Mayfield's 1974 version on "Sweet Excorcist" there's also another version I'd overlooked and was reminded by Yves
(aka USMAN47) by Melba Moore on her 1976 album "This Is It" which is more of a
disco cut. An even longer, alternate, 9 mins plus version also appeared on her "Dancin' With Melba" album in 1979.
The Patti Jo version below is a later 12 " version released in
1999.
Oyobi also did a cover of Jean Carn's 1978 Philly classic "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" in 2020 (on 7" only) which also features Karen Lee Andrews.

There is also a version of "Make Me Believe in You" released in 1979 by Melba Moore on her album "Dancin' with Melba". But the version of master Curtis is the best for me although later than that of Patti Jo!!!
