A better deep soul double-sider would be hard to find! George E. Smith with "Don't Find Me
Guilty" and a version of Luther Dixon's song "Human", which was a hit first
from Tommy Hunt in 1961 but covered by Chuck Jackson, Billy Hambric, The Ad
Libs and The Hesitations to name a few.
The 'better' side is the official B side, "Don't Find Me Guilty", co-written by Nat Badger and a name synonymous to the rare soul scene
Rosemary McCoy who had a hand in writing many Northern Soul classics
such as "Our Love Is In The Pocket" (Darrell Banks / J.J. Barnes),
"I Remember The Feeling" (Barbara Lewis), "Touch Me, Hold Me, Kiss Me" (The Inspirations), "I'm
Spellbound" (Tamiko Jones), "I Don't Want To Talk About It" (Nancy Ames)
"Can't Shake It Loose" (Pat Lewis), "A Hundred Pounds Of Pain" (Lenny
Welch/Facts Of Life) to name just a few.
It was released twice, on Bojo, which is widely believed to be the first (and hence most expensive) issue, although some dispute it, and also on Conclave. The Bojo release credits Smith & McCoy (as per the 1984 album credits) not Badger & McCoy as on Conclave issue. Another 'clincher' is that there are only two (known) single releases on Bojo BJ-1000 dated 1984 by 45Cat and this one BJ-1001 which surely must be around the same date which coincides with his 1984 Bojo album "I'm Only Human"?
