Jeremy Gaddie is a jazz drummer who has supported artists such as Roy Ayers and Alicia Keys for the last 25 years. He released his solo debut album "...something to say" in March and has just released a single featuring Sara Devine & Nicholas Cassarino (not featured on the album).

It's a nice, traditional, soul / jazz tune.

My selection of the best releases this week (Jun 2021 Wk 22). 

There is just so much good music around this week that It's been tough to whittle them down to just twelve as, with around 20 EPs/Albums as well as singles, there were almost 300 tracks to choose from this week. So, rather than let good tracks slip through the cracks which would probably have featured in other weeks, I've extended the dozen to eighteen.

However, choosing the SoulStrutter Selection of the Week wasn't too difficult, it was a choice between B.Slade, Raheen DeVaughn & Apollo Brown "Broken Pieces" and Hassan Farrow "I'd Do Anything" with B.Slade just shading it.

Barbara Lomas [199?] - Time To Make Love Tonight [NuBlackMusic unreleased]

Franklin (Sinclair) (Global Soul Radio) played a track on Friday evening in the new music hour (which was actually two hours this week) by Barbara Lomas. I enquired about it and he told me he found it on YT but was unable to find it again, but like a dog with a bone I investigated, as it was a great track, and managed to find it. Unfortunately it's not the full track, but I've left a message on the video asking if/when it will be made available.

It transpires that the track was recorded in the early 90s and Barbara Lomas is Barbara Joyce (Lomas), a member of B.T. Express, who also released about five solo singles between 1971 and 1984, one being a disco/boogie version of the B.T. Express' 1974 funk classic "Do It (Til You're Satisfied)".

Time to check out some of those B.T. Express B sides and album tracks methinks!

Latest release from New Jersey band leader, composer, producer Pat Van Dyke came out on 14 May 2021. It contains three tracks "Nautilus" (a jazz funk instrumental) and vocal and instrumental versions of "Love You Inside And Out".

Navy [2021] - One Shot (Live for Pretty Little Thing) 27 May 2021

A couple of weeks ago I posted a track by Navy which sampled Deniece Williams' "Free". She's just posted a live recording of it along with another video which she's called "Queen Of Wands Part 2" which I thought may have been a alternate take but sounds the same to me, just a different video.

I think what the live recording shows is that this girl can sing, and as stated on the original post, I'd love to hear something without the ragga rapping, as good as it is.

She has also featured with DWN on a single called "With Love" last week.

I've also added two videos for her earlier single "Petra". She's also the lead singer of Taste Of Pluto so if you like her sound check out their releases..
