Melanie Charles (aka D'Flower) from Brooklyn has a new album "Y’all Don’t (Really) Care
About Black Women" due for release on 22 Oct 2021.
The first track has been pre-released on 13 Aug which is a 'reimagined' version of Marlena Shaw's 1969 classic "Woman Of The Ghetto" which came out
on Cadet and was on her "The Spice Of Life" album.
There are another few interesting looking tracks lined up for the album, several jazz standards and, one in particular I'm looking forward to is, another Marlena Shaw song "Go Away Little Boy". (click album image for full track listing)
To spice things up a bit I've included a live version from Marlena Shaw recorded in 1973 at The Montreux Jazz Festival and the 2014 Akshin Alizadeh Remix which is quite tasty!
