Sadly, Izo FitzRoy's last single, "Everybody Knows This Ain't Right", released a month ago which I raved about (rated 9/10), did
absolutely nothing on any of the UK soul charts, so I'm not holding my
breath for her latest single "Little Birdie" to do any better, but I will keep backing her as sooner or later we
will have to take her more seriously as she has one of the best white soul voices I've heard with a smoky, bluesy,
raw tone to her voice honed from her gospel background.
Born and bred in London, she quotes her influences as Janis Joplin
and Bill Withers and her seven-piece band is accompanied by six gospel
backing singers.
She has released two albums to date, debuting in 2017 with "Skyline" followed up last year with "How The Mighty Fall" which she describes as country soul, presumably influenced by Bill
Withers but she also cites Donny Hathaway as an influence for the
album?
