You may recognise the name of the label i.e. Weirdo Workshop which
is run by Louis York (Claude Kelly & Chuck Harmony who named the group named after their
home towns i.e. St Louis & New York) who introduced the three singers
of The Shindellas, Kasi Jones, Stacy Johnson and Tamara
Chauniece. They featured on Louis York's latest album "American Griots" released earlier this year.
The new single, released 13 Jun 2021, is a much better effort than their
last "Money" released earlier this year which was more of a pop song
similar in style to the sort of material released by the Pointer Sisters
in the 70s/80s.
"Volcano Love" has smooth and soulful harmonies which reminds me of someone/something that I can't quite put my finger on, Toni Braxton perhaps? It's a retro vibe but also has a contemporary feel.
I'm not sure whether there's a shorter version available or not, but the only
versions I've found are over 7 mins long, which might hinder
airplay?
