The second Hit And Run release today is from Paul Thompson, who released
a solitary 45 on Volt in Jun 1970 called "Special Kind Of Woman"
which tore up modern soul dancefloors. He recorded another session at
Muscle Shoals later, in Sep that year but with the first single not
achieving sales the results of the session were canned. Garry Cape (owner of Hit And Run) says he 'stumbled across' the tapes 15 years later in 1985.
"Having A Little Talk With Love" is a superb, mid-tempo, song written by
Phillip Mitchell with the flip being a deep southern soul tune written by
George Soule and Terry Woodford, who also wrote "Special Kind Of
Woman".
To close the loop on his releases, the flip side of his only Volt 45 is a
funeral paced, deep, southern soul cut called
"What I Don't Know Won't Hurt Me"
written by Soule and Steve Wiggins.
