Brian Pinches does it again, posting yet another record of sheer quality, a
crossover gem with a respected deep soul cut on the flip (A) side, and this is
still a 'cheapie' (£15-£30).
Check out Brian's YouTube channel
as he is constantly posting great stuff.
Ray Pettis was a member of The Gems in the 50s and released a number of solo
recodings in late 50s and early 60s which were mainly doo wop, but as the 60s
progressed he recorded several soul tunes. This record was released on Bobby
Robinson's (The Gems) Dee Dee label from Chicago. He released another on the
label as Ray (The Rev) Pettis in 1970 a soul/funk A side
'Hello There Pretty Baby'
with a deep soul B side
'I Don't Care'.
There's more info on Ray Pettis on Sir Shambling.
