Jimmy Edward - She's Gone (Away)

Jimmy Edward (Santiago Eduardo Trevino) was the lead singer of Latin Breed, having previously been with The Lovells, and Danny & The Dreamers. He deputised for Sunny Ozumo for Sunny & The Sunliners for a while when Sunny was ill and was known as 'Little Jimmy'.

There are several postings of this track on YouTube (some titled as 'She's Gone' and others as 'She's Gone Away') but not one of them specifies it's origin i.e. when was it released, what label, 45 or LP. I don't even know if it's a Jimmy Edward solo or Jimmy Edward & The Latin Breed, or simply The Latin Breed. If anyone has any info please leave a comment.

I have not been able to find it listed anywhere, however, after a lot of digging, I've managed to find it on a 2017 compilation CD 'Tejano Super Hits Vol. 3' on Apple Music, but I'm pretty sure that the tracks must be mixed up as it is track 06  titled 'Sueno y Quiereme' (which loosely translates to 'Dream And Love Me') but the sample plays 'She's Gone'... and  'Sueno y Quiereme' is a completely different track.  So the question is ... have the sound files on Apple Music got mixed up or is the track listing wrong?

It is also on Amazon but no sound samples available.

Whilst digging around trying to find out some info about this song I discovered that Jimmy Edward has only just recently (16th Feb 2020) died at the age of 68.

Anyway, back to the music,  this is a killer deep soul harmony track ... probably late 60s / early 70s, and probably rare as rocking horse droppings?

SoulStrutter's Rating: 9.5
