Billy Brown was a member of Ray, Goodman & Brown who
were previously known as The Moments but were forced to change their name
when the left the All Platinum fold in 1979.
Brown was a member of The Broadways (originally named The
Uniques) who recorded two singles for MGM in 1966. The first, "Goin Goin
Gone", is a mid tempo sweet soul tune with a deep and soulful flip "Are You
Telling Me Goodbye", a nice double-sider. The follow up, "You Just Don't
Know" / "Sweet And Heavenly Melody" both received Northern Soul spins
many years later. He was recruited into The Moments in 1968 after The
Broadways split up.
Now 78, Brown has released, what appears to be, his first solo single, "You're So Fine". Not surprisingly, it's similar in style to Ray, Goodman & Brown, a
sweet soul ballad. Written by Rahni Song aka Rhani Harris who you may
remember for his 1978 club hit "Six Million Steps".
