Ahead of Dee C. Lee's first album in 26 years, "Just Something" due next Friday (22 Mar), Acid Jazz has released another track, "Every Day Summer", today as a single.
Dee's last solo album was "Smiles" in 1998 and the latest single follows the double single
"Don't Forget About Love" / "Be There In The Morning" (Sep '23) and "Walk Away" in Jan.
She was born Diane Sealy in London in 1961 and was a backing singer for
Central Line and then Wham! in the early 80s before joining The Style
Council and married Paul Weller in 1987. The new single was co-written by their
daughter Leah Weller.
Leaving Wham! to pursue a solo career, Dee released her debut solo single
"Selina Wow Wow" in 1984 which entered the lower reaches on the UK Pop chart at #88. The
next single, "See The Day", in 1985 peaked at #3 on the UK Pop chart and is her most successful solo
recording, chartwise, to date. The song was covered by Girls Aloud in
2009.
Dee took a break to bring up her children but teamed up with Robert Howard
(Blow Monkeys), and released an album together in 1991 as Slam Slam, and
then recorded with Gang Starr's Guru and had a several club hits including
"No Time To Play" a #25 hit in 1993.
The new album will be her fifth, although her second is credited as Slam
Slam with the majority of the songs written by Paul Weller.
It's will be available digitally, on CD and Vinyl (Black or Blue) and you can
pre-order now from Acid Jazz with all advance orders signed personally by Dee.
Dee is also featured in the latest edition of Echoes magazine (Mar '23), and
appears on the front cover, as well as featuring on the cover of modernist magazine 'Detail' Spring
2024 issue.
