A contemporary take on Etta James' "Something's Got A Hold On Me" from
1962 by multi-hyphenate Carly Pearl (Carly Brooke Pearlstein) from New
York.
She has a background in theatre, acting, and music and fronted the
national touring act The Scruffy Pearls and has a vocal style reflecting a
blend of Amy Winehouse and Macy Gray.
Her rendition of the song is a much more laid back affair than James'
R&B 'screamer' which peaked at #4 R&B and #37 Hot 100.
