Long time friends Cornell C.C. Carter and
Narada Michael Walden collaborate on a new, jointly written, single "I'd Rather Dance With You".
Walden, now 71, is of course best remembered for a series of hit records
in the late 70s such as "I Don't Want Nobody Else (To Dance with
You)", "I Shoulda Loved Ya" and "Tonight I'm Alright". However, he began
his career as a jazz drummer in the early 70s working with artists including Chick Corea, Jeff Beck, Alphonse Mouzon, Weather Report, James Mason prior to releasing his debut solo album "Garden Of Love Light" in 1976. He later became a songwriter/producer, after
being mentored by Quincy Jones, for stars such as Aretha Franklin, Whitney
Houston and Mariah Carey along with a whole host of others including Stacy Lattisaw.
Carter's music is much loved in the UK especially since his 2016 album "In The
Moment" and regularly tops the UK Soul Chart as he did with his last
single "Sometimes" with Brian Power.
Their new single together comes with four variants, Radio Soul, Club Mix,
House Mix and Euro Mix, so all bases covered there! Oddly, the Radio Soul
mix has not been included on the Spotify release today, so we've included
it below.
