A Stevie Wonder song (co-written with one time Supreme Susaye Greene), "I Can't Help It", is the
vehicle for a jazz interpretation by Ashleigh Smith.
The song was first
recorded by Michael Jackson on "Off The Wall" and was also the flip of
"Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" in 1979.
Ashleigh Smith grew up in Georgia singing along to her fathers jazz records by greats such as Ella Fitzgerald but also Stevie Wonder and Prince. In 2014 she won the Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition after coming second two years earlier. It won her a recording contract with Concord Records. In the same year (2014) she won Miss Black Texas competition. Her debut album "Sunkissed" was released by Concord in 2016.
She featured here with her last single "I Can Love You" (Feb '22).
