How do you make a great song even better? Well a song we highlighted back
in Feb by J-SUMMA, (which was our SoulStrutter Selection of the Week) gained criticism in
some purist quarters for the guitar solo. J-SUMMA has responded by
releasing a new acoustic/piano version of his debut single "Heaven and Home".
Gawaine 'J-SUMMA' Campbell is Jamaican singer, songwriter, guitarist who cites that his influences are the likes on Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack and
Curtis Mayfield as well as fellow Jamaicans Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff.
In fact when asked which song he wished he had written he
responded Al Green's "Let's Stay Together".
His debut single was a while in the making after meeting producer,
and now his manager, Rayan ‘Rocky’ Russell in 2016. In 2018 he
featured on a track on a compilation celebrating Red Stripe's 100th
anniversary "Journey With Stripe" which is a bit of poppy affair
reminiscent of CeeLo Green titled "Keeping It Up".
Credit for unearthing this one to Paul 'Brighton Boris' Regan as we missed it as we were away for a long bank holiday weekend last week when it was released on Wed 31 May.
