The Ironsides [2023] - Changing Light [Colemine] (Full Album)

The debut album for Colemine band The Ironsides "Changing Light" is released today and is available digitally, on CD and vinyl.

Perhaps not to everyone's taste, as it's an instrumental album that they describe "melds classic psych-soul sounds with sweeping orchestral arrangements – reminiscent of a cinematic soundtrack from a 60s European film inspired by the soundtracks and library music of European composers during the 60's and 70's".

They have come full circle as their debut release for Colemine in 2013 was a cover of "The Raven" originally composed by Piero Piccioni.

The album was recorded at Transistor Sound Studios, North Bay Area and the group enlisted the help of New York based maestro Lou King and hired local Bay Area jazz to classical musicians to bring the songs to life.

Some may say that it's not soul music, but you cannot fault the musicianship and it's a very pleasant album to listen to. It's unlikely to get airplay on internet soul radio or trouble any charts, but is that really what it's all about, or is it a work of art to be listened to?
