A cover/remake of Minnie Riperton's debut solo single "Les Fleurs", (using her real name as she previously released two using the
pseudonym Andrea Davis and was also a member of The Gems) by a new
name Kenisha Greene.
The song was written by Riperton's husband Richard Rudolph and Charles
Stepney and released as the lead single from her 1970 debut solo album
"Come Into The Garden".
Kenisha Greene is from a musical background, she is the daughter
of jazz guitarist James Greene, her mother turned down the opportunity
of signing a music contract in favour of the church. Her brother was
in a local group who opened for New Kids On The Block and her cousin
is Choclet' from Graham Central Station.
She was offered an audition for Deathrow Records which her
mother declined on her behalf and then began singing with a girl group
Tré Unique who sang background vocals on Mista Grimm "Steady Dippin'",
Discipline "Zig Zag" and rapper Madd C.J Macc's "Dead Man Walking".
The group signed a record deal and recorded an album that was never
released. After the group disbanded Kenisha went solo and sang
background vocals for artists such as L.V, Jon B, Frank
McComb.
Although she has featured on a few singles from other artists, this would appear to be
her debut solo release.
