Brussels-based singer/songwriter and performer
Adja Fassa released her debut five track EP "IRONEYE" on 24 Feb '23.
Adja takes her influences from artists such as Erykah Badu, Solange
and Lianne La Havas. Not only a musician, she is a performing artist
where her music takes centre stage in her theatrical live shows which
tells stories through song, accompanied by sensory elements such as
scent and symbolic images.
A bit of surfing around revealed that she has appeared in a few
movies/TV shows and appeared in an episode of Flemish TV series Obder
Vuur (Under Fire) based around the Ostend fire brigade in January this
year.
She describes her music as a blend of jazz, soul and gospel, some may
call this neo soul but It's essentially jazz based as she studied jazz/singing at the Conservatory in Leuven.
It's a shame that probably the standout track "Told You So" is the only explicit one, but it seems limited to the intro so
could perhaps be cued beyond.
For our continental visitors, she has four dates lined up in Belgium
in the next week or so, or intrigued Brits could jump on a
ferry?
