L.A. singer/songwriter/guitarist Aalon Butler played with Eric Burden
(War/The Animals) before forming his own group Aalon in the mid 70s
who recorded rock-flavoured soul and funk for Arista. They released
just one album "Cream City" in 1977 and three singles from
it.
However, Aalon is back with a new single "A Pocketful Of Tears" and music video released last Friday (10 Mar '23). It's got a lazy west coast vibe
which may appeal to the Yacht Soul fraternity. Give this one a few listens as it's a bit of 'creeper'!
I don't know what Aalon has been doing in the years between the 80s and present day but they are certainly performing live now as they have flyers for several gigs on their website on bills with veteran artists such as Brenton Wood, Barbara Mason, War, The Chi-Lites, The Bar-Kays, Sly Slick & Wicked and new artists on the East L.A. lowrider scene such as Trish Toledo and Thee Sacred Souls.
