Singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Ray Greene is a graduate of Berklee College of Music from Columbia, SC, and
has performed and recorded with many artists, most notably Aretha Franklin,
Natalie Cole, The Isley Brothers and Rick James, to name a few.
Ray is lead singer/trombonist for Tower of Power having left
in 2016 to join Santana returning in 2021. He released his debut solo album "All About Me/All About You" in 1997 and followed it with a couple of gospel albums "Songs of Hope, Inspiration and Joy" (2003) and "Heaven Bound" (2011) as well as an album with Micahel Nickolas Duo "We Got By" (2001), a Christmas album "Tell Me the Story of Christmas" in 2007 and "Nature Doesn't Legislate" (2016).
His latest album "Stay" is scheduled for release on 14 Apr '23 and a couple of tracks by have been released in recent weeks from it. The title track "Stay" is released today, with "Shoulda Known Better" being released as a single on 20 Jan.
On "Stay" he is joined by Jeff Lockhart and Joe Cunningham, with Tyrone Chase featuring on "Shoulda Known Better". 'Stay. with "Stay" as it's a 6:09 track and the second half from 3:35, I think, is better. It's like two songs in one, the first half vocal and the second a jazz-funk style instrumental.
