As we suspected when posting the last single "Mountains" in Jan, which was bundled with the previous single "Fragile Eyes", Raquel Martins has now released a four track EP, "Empty Flowers" which includes both previous singles along with two new down tempo songs "Empty
Flowers" and "The Feeling".
If you missed "Fragile Eyes" when it came out on 17 Nov '22, then here's a chance to catch up as it is the clear standout.
Singer/songwriter and guitarist Raquel Martins was born and raised in
Portugal listening to the classics from the Brazilian and jazz
repertoire. When she discovered the world of contemporary hip-hop, soul
and jazz music she realised she could create something new with all the
sounds she had been absorbing over the years.
She moved to London when she was only 17 and in only 4 years she's
already established herself. Her self-produced debut EP "The Way" caught the attention of Gilles Peterson and Jamie Cullum with Cullum
inviting her on his BBC 2 radio show and Peterson inviting her to a
session at his ‘Brownswood Basement’ which led to him booking her for
his We Out Here festival in August 2022.
