The blog has followed the career of Acantha Lang since her second single "Lois Lang". On 18 May 2022 (yesterday) she did a 45 minute lunchtime live-stream session at 5dB Canteen, West London.

N'shai Iman [2022] - Reasons (To Be Me) [Self Released]

N'shai Iman (Imani McCullough) is from Bowling Green, OH, and released her first single "Do Not Disturb" in 2019.

She is just 22 and states that her influences are H.E.R, Syd, Victoria Monét, and Summer Walker which should give you an indication of what to expect from her material. Her latest single "Reasons (To Be Me)" was released on 8 Apr. The Spotify version is explicit but there is a cleaned up Radio Edit available (link on image). 

I love this song as it's an example of the 'good' kind of rap and contemporary soul. The change in key at 1:26 is brilliant! It was a smart move to record a clean version so that it can get radio exposure. Radio jocks 'get to know' and get behind this as, for me, it's one of the best of it's kind around.

Rain Bisou [2022] - Accepted [Let's Experiment!]

There are very few new releases today and even fewer worth posting so I'll focus on ones that got away over recent weeks by trawling through some short-listed tunes that never made it to a full post.

The first one out of the blocks is this jazz tinged neo soul number by Rain Bisou "Accepted" released on 28 Mar 2022.

Rain Bisou (Rina Guadalupe Cervantes) is from L.A. born to Mexican/El Salvadorean parents. She started her career in 2010 but after a family tragedy in 2012 withdrew from music and pursued a career in teaching until the advent of the Covid19 pandemic in 2020 when she reignited her music career. Since then she's released over 20 singles, 2 EPs and an album "High Art" which is a collection of her 2021 singles. Her latest single is her second this year. I quickly sampled a few of her earlier releases and they are well worth checking out based on the few I sampled.

Jess Meilman [2022] - Plenty [Self Released]

The second single from Jess Meilman "Plenty" was released 29 Apr 2022. Her debut was in Feb with "Guilty Soulmate". It's another latent entry into Amazon UK Hot New Releases, perhaps a bit light-weight and poppy for some?

Ariel [2022] - Layaway Luv [S.A.D.I.E. Independent]

Ariel (Sanders) is a new artist from Vancouver (Canada) who debuted with a single "First" in June 2021 followed by a full album "Libra" in July. Her second single "Layaway Luv" was released on 20 Apr 2022 and a live performance of it posted on her You Tube channel on 12 May (below).

Curiously whilst researching her I discovered at least another three Canadian artists with the same name from Toronto, Montreal and Nova Scotia, so finding information has been difficult as nothing is given away on her website.
