The Global Soul chart broadcast on Sat 2nd Apr as it is every Saturday between  5pm-7pm (GMT) on Global Soul Radio.

No "Essential 5" this week but the 'Breakers' will be posted separately.

Jermaine Hardsoul knocks Ego Ella May off the top spot after two weeks at the top. There's not been a lot of movement as there are nine new entries but the highest climber Joyce Wrice, which is certainly not in the same league as "Chandler" from last year. The biggest faller is also one I won't particularly miss from Soultri. A 'surprising', but welcome, entry in the chart from Parkes Stewart and Jessica Childress's excellent EP.

Four of the chart have not been posted on the blog (yet) but interestingly all that have been posted were posted on, or within a day, of release or before (from promo). The exception is Royalty Duo but I suspect that the release date published (6 Feb) is not correct as no one else seemed to have found it before it was posted on 21 Feb.

All six tracks predicted to drop out have done so in addition to another three (Poet22, Ellison Kendrick, Sevana). This week's is harder to predict as there are so many new entries in the lower half but I suspect some of those may go along with Soultri and Blue Lab Beats.

Gwen Bunn is a Grammy nominated artist/producer originally from Decatur, GA, now residing in Los Angeles, and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music who debuted in 2009 with an album "The Verdict".

Her latest single is "2MANYTHINGS" released on 31 Mar 2022.

Mark Evich [2022] - PRIME [Self Released]

Mark Evich is a Moscow born soul singer/producer now based in L.A. He is set to release his new single "PRIME" on 22 Apr 2022.

Having left Russia in 2016 to move to NYC to pursue his dreams he has a video comment on his facebook page recorded on 28 Feb, just days after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which is well worth a listen to hear the views of a person who lived under the Putin regime for 27 years!

The man behind TIME 2 B is Albert Manno who you may know as the co-writer with Eugene Wilde of Backstreet Boys 1995 hit "I'll Never Break Your Heart". 

TIME 2 B is his latest project featuring artists he has worked with over the last 20 plus years and the first single "Untouchable Lover" was released on 11 Apr 2022.

Wilfred 'Nenja' Frelix Feat. Melvin Riley [2022] - Play On [Tight Strangz Production]

Wilfred 'Nenja' Frelix is a  smooth jazz guitarist, producer, songwriter and recording artist who you may be familiar with from his appearance on Raja-Nee's "Come Get The Love" which first appeared on ThaSaint's album "This Is Us" in late 2020 and went on to be a UK soul chart topper in 2021.

He has a new single, "Play On", out on 4 Apr 2022 featuring lead vocals by 90s group Ready For The World's lead singer and keyboardist Melvin Riley. The song was written by Wilfred, Melvin and Alicia Renee Knott (aka Raja-Nee').
