The Cool-Notes [2022] - Make This a Special Night: The Lost PWL Album [BMG]

The Cool-Notes started out as a seven-piece reggae band from Brixton, South London, in the 70s. They rose to prominence in the mid 80s with eight UK pop chart entries, two of which made Top 20 "Spend The Night" and "In My Car" in 1985.

Original band members Steve McIntosh and Heather Haywood (Austin/Austyn) still keeps the band alive.

On 25 Nov this twelve track digital album was released which is billed as "Make This a Special Night: The Lost PWL Album" so presumably it's an album produced by Pete Waterman from the 90s that never got released.

The first couple of tracks are ok, a cover of The Funk Masters' "It's Over" (1983 featuring Juliet Roberts on lead and was a UK Top 10 pop hit) and Foster Sylvers' "Misdemeanour"  (1973).

It then gets into the Stock/Waterman compositions with various mixes on their 1991 single "Make This a Special Night" along with three other Stock/Waterman songs of which the best is "Love Is A FreakyThing" and "Sweetness And Light" as "Turn Me Off" is an over-produced 90s new jack swing style song which now sounds very dated.
